Blue-eyed Hooktail Dragonfly

Blue-eyed Hooktail Onychogomphus uncatus
This is quite a common dragonfly in this region during the summer. The photo was taken on the Verdus stream in St-Guilhem-le-Désert. The dragonfly has adopted the "obelisk" position, aligning its body towards the sun to decrease the amount of heat absorbed and prevent it getting too hot.
